Release Party!
Green Day: Rock Band is finally out, and we had a night of debauchery to celebrate! Held at Ryle's Jazz Club in Cambridge - Demiurge, Harmonix, and friends came out to send off our game in style. Throughout the night, there were live music performances by bands comprised of Demiurge developers, as well as a Green Day tribute band.

QA tester John Bannon's band, Foggy Wednesday kicked off the night as party-goers filed in to claim their free drink tickets and delicious hors d'oeuvres (a dangerous combination). Next up was software engineer Kwasi Mensah's solo acoustic act, where alongside his own original music, he sang a jazzy rendition of Basketcase. Following Kwasi was senior producer Elena Siegman's band Stunt Rat. Elena's on the cusp of releasing her new country album, and shared some of her new music with us, as well as a country-infused cover of Basketcase.

Finally, Green Day tribute band DoOkie took the stage and put on a kick-ass show. It's not everyday you get to mosh with your coworkers and colleagues! After DoOkie finished their set, party-goers sang their favorite Green Day songs alongside the band. Without the help of in-game scrolling lyrics we're used to, some of us had to rely on our trusty smartphones for guidance.

It was a great night, only marred by the realization that we had to wake up and work the next day. But I suppose waking up to continue making sweet games isn't such a bad way to spend a hangover after all.
